Welcome to Midtown District

Where is Midtown District?

The Midtown District extends just north of East State Street to 9th Avenue on the south, and from Kishwaukee Street on the west to 11th Street on the east. It has many historical buildings including the old train depot and The Lantow Building which now houses the “Lantow Lofts” upscale condos.

Midtown also includes larger community stakeholders: Swedish American Hospital, U.S. Bank, and the headquarters for Rockford Public Schools District 205.

We are the one of the last truly neighborhood business districts left in Rockford, having many locally and family owned businesses mixed with residences.

Work in Midtown

Midtown has long-time local businesses that are an integral part of our neighborhood: Nicholson’s Hardware and Lawn & Garden, Benson Stone, Katie’s Cup, NorthWest Quarterly Magazine, I Spinello Locksmiths, 29 Palms Collectibles, Michelson Office Furniture, Ross-Pearson VFW, Christenson Funeral Home, Midtown Fitness, Luna Datura's, La Michoacana Ice Cream Shop, and many other great businesses.

We're also the home to larger community stakeholders. Swedish American Hospital, U.S. Bank, and the headquarters for Rockford Public Schools District 205 are just a few.

Play in Midtown

Midtown District calls itself host for a wide variety of community events. From Cars & Coffee in the RPS parking lot, to music and more at Katie's Cup.

There's trivia and fun to be had at our local bars and restaurants as well as other seasonal community events.

To put it shortly, there's rarely a boring moment here in the Midtown District
